Exalting Christ and Loving People

Alta Vista Baptist Church takes seriously the command of Christ to “make disciples of all nations”. Reaching beyond the confines of our own church, our mission outreach is vitally important and an integral segment of our overall ministry. We are a people deeply interested in sharing the Gospel with those who have never heard it. We are committed to sharing our faith with all peoples here and in other nations.

The Missions Committee shapes missions policy, establishes support levels, assists in educating the congregation, and helps the church to maintain contact with those who represent us throughout the world. The Missions Committee informs the church of the activities and needs of our missionaries, prayerfully considers and recommends financial support levels, coordinates missionary speakers as appropriate. An annual review of the needs of our missionaries is required to set the mission budget.

Our worldwide outreach is in association with the Fellowship International of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, and we are represented in major ministries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America and right next door in French-speaking Quebec. Thirteen missionaries are supported financially and in prayer.

We encourage everyone to know our supported missionary families and to regularly pray for them to spread the good news of the Bible. Follow the link for the missionary list (link) and their mission details.

Over the years, several Alta Vista Baptist members have gone into Christian service, both in Canada and abroad. We believe that local churches are the means that God is using for the recruitment, training and supporting of missions “in all nations”.
