Ministry Opportunity: Director of Worship Ministries

Ministry Mandate- Director of Worship Ministries

  1. OUR VISION- Alta Vista Baptist Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who are obedient to Jesus Christ and equipping them to do the same.
  2. PURPOSE OF POSITION- To provide leadership and oversight to AVBC’s worship ministry.
    1. Born again baptized believer who has a heart for the Lord and His church.
    2. In agreement with AVBC’s Covenant and Statement of Faith.
    3. Experience in leading worship in a local church setting.
    4. Sensitivity and openness to a wide variety of worship and musical styles.
    5. People person who can work well with all ages and communicate the love and care of Christ.
    6. Formal biblical and musical training are considered assets.
    1. To model a Christ-like attitude and approach to life.
    2. To support and participate in the overall ministry of the church.
    3. Worship:
      1. To lead, coordinate and plan all worship services and practices, working closely with others who lead worship. Services are to be blended in style with an intentional emphasis on engaging current and future generations while being sensitive to and respectful of previous generations.
      2. To recruit and mentor those with vocal, instrumental or artistic gifts.
      3. To work closely with those responsible for worship related ministries such as sound, projection, communion, baptism, instrument upkeep, licensing agreements, special music and budgeting.
    4. Other:
      1. To work 16 hours/week.
      2. To report to the Lead Pastor.
      3. To participate in staff meetings, as able.
      4. To intentionally build relationships with young adults.
      5. To sign our Non-harassment and Ethical Conduct Policies as well as Child Worker policy, including submitting a police check
      6. To perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
    1. Pay- $18/hour (x16 hours/week x 52 weeks a year= $15,000)
    2. Benefits to include: a) 4% vacation pay, b) computer, c) funds for training, d) office space and e) reimbursement for any pre-approved out-of-pocket ministry expenses.
    3. Term- A year-long contract position. After a one-year review, and if mutually agreeable, this would become a permanent part-time position.
