Digging Deeper
(For use in personal/family devotions or with your care group)
Q1: Recall a time when you’ve hurt someone with your words. What was motivating you? How did this affect your relationship with that person?
Q2: What do our words tell us about our hearts? Why is the tongue so difficult to control?
Q3: What are two or three practical ways you can be more careful with your words?
Q4: How does James’ instructions apply to social media – texts, emails, online communication, etc.?
Q5: Who in your life has exemplified and imparted godly wisdom? What characteristics mark their life? How have you done this with others?
Q6: Read Luke 6:43-45. How are you training yourself (with the help of the Holy Spirit) to store good things in your heart?
Q7: Read Proverbs 2:1-11. What practical steps do you take to search for God’s wisdom? Share an example of how godly wisdom has protected you.
