“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:23-24

“…Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish…” – Ephesians 5:25-33

Digging Deeper

Q1: Share a story about your favourite family vacation. How did you all get along?

Q2: How should husbands and wives relate to each other according to today’s passage? How is this different from the world’s view of marriage?

Q3: Read the Proverbs verses in #2. How should children relate to their parents? Does this dynamic change in the adult child/parent relationship? How?

Q4: Read Psalm 127:3-5. Share a story about how your kids have blessed you. Take a minute to pray for your kids (and their kids).

Q5: Read 2 Timothy 2:15. What reason or reasons are given in Colossians 3:24-25 about why we should serve the Lord first (and not man) from our hearts?

Q6: Identify one personal relationship you are struggling with at the moment. What command from these verses do you most need to hear and work through right now? How does the centrality of Jesus to all our relationships change everything?
