1. Jesus came to __________ the poor (v.18)

When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed… (Luke 14:12b-14a)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt.5:3)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

And this is the testimony: that God has given us

eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (I John 5:11-12)

2. Jesus came to free the __________________(v.18)

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  (John 8:34-36)

3. Jesus came to bless the _____________ (v.18)

-John 7:16–22

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (II Corinthians 4:4)

…I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. (Acts 26:17b-18)

4. Jesus came to ________ up the __________________. (v.18)

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those                                  who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
