Digging Deeper

(For use in personal/family devotions or with your small group)

Q1: Luke 1 contains Mary’s hymn of praise to the Lord.

What is your favourite Christmas song?  Why?

Q2: Mary identifies herself as the Lord’s servant or slave. What purpose might the Lord have in defining our relationship with Him in that way? What positive or negative thoughts or emotions does that term stir up?

Q3: Read Galatians 2:19-21.  What does this passage teach you about how to live the Christian life?

Q4: Have there ever been a time in your life when you chose to submit to and praise the Lord in the midst of circumstances that you didn’t like nor understand?  If so, explain.

Q5: Re-read Luke 1:46-55.  What does this passage reveal about Mary’s theology?
