  • The ONE person you would want to meet.

1) _________ Up! (vs. 11)

  • Keep your perspective in focus.

“The light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” – Ephesians 5:14 (Isaiah 52:1-2, 66:1-3, 1 Corinthians 15:34, 1 Thessalonians 5:5-8)

2) Live with _____________ in Mind (vs. 12)

  • Temporal vs. Eternal living (Already but not-yet…).

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” – John 14:1-4 (John 11:33-44, Acts 7:54-60)

3) Take ________! (vs. 13)

  • This takes HARD WORK!

“Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” – Hebrews 12:1-3 (Colossians 3:5-9, James 4:7)

4) Put ________! (vs. 14)

  • Live as a Christ-Centered person.

“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” – Colossians 3:10-12 (Ephesians 4:22-24, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15)

Digging Deeper

Q1: Who is one living person that you would want to meet? Why?

Q2: In your “understanding of the present time” why is it so important to live as an example of Jesus to others, to pray for other people’s salvation?

Q3: What does it mean to “live with eternity in mind?” How does that alter your perspective on your life? What priorities might have to change?

Q4: Read Mark 13:23-37. According to Mark 13 and Romans 13, how are we to prepare ourselves for Christ’s return?

Q5: What kind of temptations do you encounter regularly? How can Paul’s teaching in Romans 13:11-14 help you win these battles?

Q6: Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. Why is it important for Christians to remember that we are in a spiritual war right now?

Q7: What would change in your day if you imagined that Jesus was right before you, and you clothed yourself with Christ?

Q8: Focus on one person in your life who has not made a decision for Christ yet. How can you encourage them to think eternally and consider their salvation in Christ? Take a moment to pray for that person.
