TEACHER- The ___________of the body

  •  Love to study and learn

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15) (KJV)

  •  Stress importance of biblical truth/context  

Acts 18:24-26, John 8:31-32, Matt. 5:17-19

  • Validate info by checking with the scripture (Acts 17:11)
  •  Are more objective than subjective
  • Organize truth in a logical, systematic way (Romans)
  •  Primary passion is to teach believers (Col. 3:16)
  •  Believe that learning about the Lord is a never ending goal that should shape our life  (Romans 11:33-36; 12:1-2)
  •  Proud of  intellect or education (I Cor. 8:1b-2)
  •  Can be legalistic and dogmatic
  •  Filled with facts but fail with application (Matt. 23:23)

PERCEIVER- The __________ of the body

  • See everything as black and white  (I Samuel 15:22-23)
  •  Stand upon scripture as their source of authority
  •  Speak boldly without mincing words (Matt. 7:1-3, 7-10)
  •  Call the body back to biblical obedience (Gal. 2:11-14)
  • Grieve deeply over the sins of others (Lamentations)
  •  Are called to intercessory prayer (Is. 64:1-2, 6-9)
  •  May only have a few close friends
  •  Can be overly judgmental and blunt
  •  Can be pushy when it comes to spiritual growth
  •  Can be hard on themselves and struggle with having a healthy self-image

EXHORTER- The __________ of the body (Heb.10:25a) 

  •  Encourage people to live up to their God-given potential

  •  Prefer application over info or research 
  •  Often prescribe specific steps of action (Matt. 19:21)
  •  Consider clear communication crucial (Acts 2-4)
  •  Positive outlook on life and problems
  •  Clear up conflicts quickly  (Matthew 16:21-25)
  •  Prefer action-oriented training to counselling
  •  Interrupts others in eagerness to give advice (Prov. 26:17)
  •  Action steps can come across as “pat answers”
  • Use scripture out of context to make a point
