The Dining Room Table

At The Table (13:2-3)

- The sovereign control of Jesus over His coming and going
The Humble Servant (13:4-17)
- No one is above serving
- No one is below being served.
- “Do you understand what I have done for you?” (13:12)
- The way to follow Jesus is to serve others humbly

Q1: What is your dinning room table used for? Was there a time when your dinning table was a part of significant change in your life?
Q2: How would you respond if Jesus were to wash your feet?
Q3: Why do you think it is sometimes hard to “allow” Jesus to “wash” us? What particular kind of pride prevents you from accepting your need to be saved and forgiven?
Q4: Read Philippians 2:5-11. How does this passage compare to the humble service Jesus is demonstrating in John 13:1-17
Q5: Do you find it hard to serve people you view as underserving? What are some excuses you make?
