Judges 3:12-30

“Follow me,” he ordered, “for the Lord has given Moab, your enemy, into your hands.” So they followed him down and took possession of the fords of the Jordan that led to Moab; they allowed no one to cross over… That day Moab was made subject to Israel, and the land had peace for eighty years.” Judges 3:28, 30

3 Principles found in the account of Ehud

1) God’s ________________ of Leader. (vs. 12-17)

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-27

2) Be ________________________ to be used. (vs. 18-23)

I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.” Matthew 10:16-17 (1 Peter 3:15)

3) The Lord is ______________ to His ____________ (vs. 24-30)

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

  • Deuteronomy 7:9, Psalm 36:5, Psalm 119:90, Isaiah 25:1,

1 Corinthians 1:9, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, 2 Timothy 2:13,

Hebrews 10:23, 1 Peter 4:19, 1 John 1:9

Digging Deeper

Q1: When in your experience have you seen God using unexpected people and/or unpredictable means to do great things?

Q2: Read 1 Corinthians 1:26-27. “Think of what you were…” How are you “left-handed?” How does this humble you?

Q3:In what ways do you prepare yourself for God’s call? In what ways are you “shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves,” when sharing the Gospel?

Q4: Read the verses listed in #3 together. Share a time in your life when you experienced the faithful of God in all of its fullness.

Q5: How do you need to simply surrender to God and enjoy the rescue He gives?
