1. A WRONG TURN CAN FOLLOW RIGHT AFTER A ______________ TURN. (Gen.12:4-9, I Kings 18/19, Matt. 16)
Don’t let down your ___________.
Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. (I Cor. 16:13) (also I Peter 5:8-9a)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. (James 1:2-3) (also Job 23:10)
A faith that can’t be ____________ can’t be trusted
… even though you have to endure many trials for a little while…these trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold… (I Peter 1:6, 7) (NLT) (also Proverbs 3:5,6)
Those who go to Egypt for help are doomed! They are relying on Egypt’s vast military strength-horses, chariots, and soldiers. But they do not rely on the Lord, the holy God of Israel, or ask him for help. (Isaiah 31:1) (GNT)
2. A WRONG TURN SEEMS REASONABLE WHEN YOU FACE A “_________________”. (Gen. 12:10)
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Digging Deeper
Q1: Have you ever taken a wrong turn got lost? If so, describe.
Q2: Has God been testing your faith? If so, how? What has the testing produced?
Q3: Read Proverbs 29:25. How might that verse apply to how you are responding to a faith testing situation? What is God saying to you?
Q4: “All that glitters is not gold.” What do you think that saying means? Have you seen real life examples of this principle? If so, describe.
Q5: Study Job 1:20-21 and Job 2:9-10. How did Job respond to testing? What can you learn and apply from his response?
Q6: What is your “Egypt”? Instead of running to the Lord, what do you tend to run to when there is some sort of famine or lack or problem in your life?
Q7: Read Matt. 21:28-32. What U-turn principles can you glean from this passage?
Q8: Repentance is a spiritual U-turn. Is there anything in your life you need to confess to the Lord? Is it time to go a new direction? If so, why not set aside some time to talk to the Lord about that issue in your life ☺
